Class Two’s Visit to the
Feet First Dance Festival
On Tuesday 7th March, Class Two took part in the Cheltenham Feet First dance Festival at the town Hall. The event was organised by the Schools Sports Network and showcased dances by schools from across the local area. Class two have been studying India so we have created a dance using Bollywood and traditional Indian dance moves. We arrived mid-morning ready for our rehearsal slot in the main hall. This was quite nerve-wracking as there were other children there watching us and the space we had to fill was quite imposing. However, we remembered all of our moves and even showed composure when the sound team forgot to fade out our music track! We then went to our own dressing room backstage where we did some activities, ate our lunch and got into our costumes ready for the afternoon performance.
We sat as part of the audience for the first act of the show and we really enjoyed seeing all of the different dances from other schools. We also had a chance to spot some of our parents, and Mrs St John Green, in the audience, who had come to support us. After a short snack and drink back in the dressing room during the interval (not to mention a team talk from our teachers), we waited for our turn to perform. It was very strange waiting behind the big black curtains whilst another school performed. We could hear their music and so to stop ourselves getting nervous we had a quick boogie in the corridor! Once the audience clapped for them it was our turn to go through. We strode out and into our positions with big smiles, we knew our moves and we loved performing. Even those of us who had found remembering the moves or wiggling at the right time a challenge at first had grown to enjoy the dance. Our performance was flawless (Mrs Riegler says so) and one of the audience members told Mrs St John Green that our dancers and the best hip movements of the whole festival! We are very proud of our performance, it was a super experience.
